The mercifull

by richard moore

Sweet nectar of life
How nourishing to taste,
The substance of being,
O none shall I waste.
Baptized in your spirit
Washed in your blood,
My wonderful counsellor,
Embraced in thy love.
So sinless and perfect,
Yet sentenced to death,
For the crimes of a world,
Who you suffered to bless.
Though yet some reject you,
I'll never know how,
As you prayed in the garden,
Sweating blood from thy brow.
O, Saviour in glory,
I so long to meet,
To beg my forgiveness,
At your mercy seat,
I continue to wander,
And let my mind stray,
But can't live without you,
O, Ancient of days.
How I yearn for the rapture,
To stand and behold,
In heavenly bodies,
On streets paved with gold.
And share in your glory,
To praise thy great name,
For ever and ever,
We will humbly proclaim.
