STRENGTH IN TEMPTATION

Lord, would You give to me
The strength it takes to say
“No” to each temptation
That Satan sends my way.

The courage just to stand
For what I know is right
And when necessary,
To stand right up and fight.

Though I may be needy
Lord, help me not to use
Power I have o’er someone
To injure or abuse.

Though I may be hungry,
Please help me to recall
That stones made into bread
Are never worth the cost.

Satan offers kingdoms -
Many kinds of worldly gain,
But compared with the cost
It’s not worth all the pain.

Really, he has nothing
Of value he can give,
My Father owns it all
And He grants my every wish.

If trials make me stronger
Then take me through the fire;
True to You, Lord make me,
And faithful every hour.
