Love Was God's Intention

by Terry Knight

Mankind had moved away from God,
By rebellion in the heart.
By rejection of God's purpose,
And by unbelief from the start.

God's plan for fellowship with men,
In that day of sin was shaken,
And the consequence of that rebellion,
Was that paradise on earth was taken.

Men then went about to seek a world,
Where the true God is not alone,
And they invented their own religions.
Each nation had its own.

And they've fought for their religions,
And they've warred in their own hate.
And this world they thought that they'd perfected,
Is a world in wretched state.

But love was God's intention,
It has always been His plan.
To redeem these sinful sons of wraith,
By the righteous Son of Man.

For God has sent His Son to rescue,
These men who have no hope.
But rather than grasp the Lifeline that He sent them,
So many push away that Rope.

They reject the very Savior,
They scorn His death upon the cross.
They reject the Lamb, once sacrificed,
They choose eternal loss.

They go about their own life,
And they stumble in the dark,
But they'll not come to the true Light,
Who would guide them from their strife.

Do they not know that love was God's intention?
And that He planned it from the start?
Oh, that they would receive God's love intention!
For it's the dearest thing to His heart.
