GOD, YOU ARE WONDERFUL

by Harry Page © 2007

Waking early in the morning doesn't seem quite right,
Birds, they are not singing yet, though I think they might,
Stepping into misty streets, not a sole in sight,
God, my thanks for bringing me safely through the night,

Standing in the fragrant woods, mid the rustling trees,
Branches sway in perfect time, conducted by the breeze,
Song birds sing just out of sight, wondrous melodies,
God, this beauty that you give, brings me to my knees.

Crossing now the sea washed sands, footprints follow me,
Empty shores with gulls that call, saying 'can you see?'
Waves of water moving in, calm as calm can be,
God, all this perfection brings my thoughts to Thee.

Walking through the open fields, see the skylarks play,
Breathing in the early morn, smells of new mown hay,
Going down the leafy lanes, oh what can I say?
God, Oh God, you're wonderful; praise your name all day.

Sitting here at end of day, I just have to cheer,
Seeing all the marvellous things, all is now quite clear,
With your love that overflows, what now can I fear?
God, I can't be troubled now, knowing that you're here.
