Imagine

by Sylvia Larane Green © 2000

Imagine a world without day but just night,
There would be only darkness--no sign of light.
Just imagine no firmament up above;
There would be no sky for the flight of the dove.

Imagine having water and no dry land.
There would be no ground to rest on for the sand.
Just imagine no grass, or herbs, or trees;
There would be nothing to eat or nice to see.

Imagine no fish in the sea or no fowl;
At night we would not hear the hoot of an owl.
Just imagine no cattle of finest breed;
There would be no choice meat upon which to feed.

Imagine if all mankind were not to be;
Nonexistent that fact would leave you and me.
Aren't you glad God created the heavens and earth
And formed man and woman from the dust--the dirt?
