redemption

by quattara jones © 2007

As I sit here pining away,
I think to myself, what words will I say.
how I've messed up and let other's sway,
my love from you away that day.
as I sit here on my last breath,
all my thoughts around me they press.
hard against my skull, what can I do,
I knew this day would one day come true.
I'm dying lord, I am sorry I turned against you,
I am sorry, my soul is so blue.
I let the flesh of the world pull me wrong,
when you only wanted me to remain strong.
please lord come forgive me for my slight,
please come back into my sight.
lord let my heart beat only for you,
and on my last breath my dreams of redemption came true.
