While Jesus in the garden wept

by Anthony Paul Curtis

Sonnet 1
While Jesus in the Garden wept
and His disciples vigil kept
Judas went and Him betrayed:
Thirty pieces was he paid.
Know all ye people of the world
that a guilty and ignorant hoard
have mocked and crucified our Lord,
made little of His holy word.
But hear! the disciple's happy cry...
Why?
Christ is arisen! Let us rejoice
and sing our praise with heartfelt voice
Christ is arisen, sing it with united breath.
The Lord is free from the bonds of death.

Sonnet 2
When He survived the cruel cross
our Lord's gain was Satan's loss.
He purged our sins and set us free
a vision of Hope for you and me.
Tell me why,
why was Jesus crucified?
Tell me why.
He died to save us all from sin
and by His death a new life to begin.
Tell me where,
where can I Jesus find?
Tell me where.
In your heart is Jesus to be found,
and He will make your life more sound.

Sonnet 3
When in life we cannot cope,
Jesus is our one true hope.
Spread the Word to every nation,
Jesus is our true salvation
Sing for joy and praise our God,
thank Him for His holy word,
he is the One above all things
who through his Son salvation brings.
Life is hard and oft-times sad
But in our hearts we should be glad
let us rejoice in the good news -
He is there when trouble brews
and after all is said and done
Jesus loves us every one.
