Christmastide

by Anthony Paul Curtis

Christmastide has begun blessings for us all,
Mary's child God's own son, born in a stall,
let us rejoice and sing our praise on this holy Day of days.

Wise men come, from the east, offerings bring
frankincense, gold and myrrh for the new King,
let us be thankful for that day, when our Savior came to stay.

Shepherds tending sheep at night saw a wondrous sight;
angel came, said to them: "Be not afraid,
follow the star to Bethlehem where a Child in a manger is laid."

Bells are ringing voices singing on this special day,
let us go to our church, let us kneel and pray,
let us contrive to do our best; Jesus will help us with the rest.
