Making Ends Meet

by Sue Towler

"I am awfully sorry Jesus
I'm a little bit short this week
Maybe I could put it on my slate
I've had a lot of extras
And how they all mount up
I never seem to have enough cash of late.

I bought some plants for the garden
And I needed compost as well
You know how it is, so tempting once you're inside
You end up buying lots of things
You really do not need
But a little treat here and there and I'm satisfied.

I've magazines to pay for
I get my hair done every week
Otherwise I'd look a dreadful sight
Of course there is my lottery
You never know your luck
I haven't won anything so far, but I might!!

The problem is too Jesus
I am finding more and more
That when Sunday Morning comes I've nothing there
My little dog needs feeding
My grandchildren will be here today
So I need to keep a little cash as spare"

"Thank you for explaining my child
Why you have nothing left for me
But I find it very hard to understand
You see I gave everything I had for you
I went to Calvary and gave my life
Even suffered nailprints in my hand.

Why can't you put ME FIRST though
Set aside your gift for me?
Then all your other needs will be satisfied
Have faith in me my child
Trust in me and believe
And everything you need I will provide"
JESUS.
