The Darkness Cannot Stay

by Ronald Broome © 1995

In the midnight of your life
When the tears fill your eyes
And your lonely days are empty agony

To wake up and face a new day
You've now come to despise
For the lack you feel of truly being free

Nothing seems to work out right
And all your plans have failed
It appears that the enemy has won

All the brightness of the joy you knew
Seems to have been paled
But listen friend, you are far from done

Despite what you feel, my words are true
You have a special place in God's loving arms
And though I realize, right now, you feel blue
This weapon formed can do you no harm

Yes, your weeping may endure for night
But, you'll have joy come the break of day
You may still be breathing heavy, exhausted from the fight
When on your face, you feel the sun's first ray

Yes, my friend, I encourage you
Keep strong and keep wielding your sword
To overcome all the darkness that we face
Is our heritage as servants of the Lord

The Word of God says there is victory for you
Your trial can end no other way
Yes, I know that your hurting right now...

But, The Darkness Cannot Stay

Unto the upright, there ariseth light in the darkness...
Psalm 112:4

Rejoice not against me, O mine enemy: when I fall, I shall arise; when I sit in darkness, the Lord shall be a light unto me.
Micah 7:8

Let no one deceive you with empty words... (Ephesians 5:6 NKJV)
