Past and Present

Lingering in the past
Once again goes my mind
Recalling the mistakes
That I have left behind.

The floods of emptiness
Infuse my heart again,
Lord, please remind me that
This is now, that was then!

For I am freely bound
Adoring love has graced;
Residual passion-
Former self now replaced.

I'm no longer under
The weight of prior sin.
I live in the present,
Not past that has been.

For You, Lord have begun
Amazing work in me,
Completing only what
Is plausible with thee!

The future does not hold
The faults I've left behind!
Past faults and present grace
Now becomes intertwined.

Forming a lump of clay,
Gloriously remade;
Presenting handiwork
By Your hands now displayed!

(International Standard Version) Philippians 1:6
I am convinced of this, that the one who began a good work among you will bring it to completion by the Day of the Messiah Jesus.
