Sometimes

by Kathleen Higham

It's that time of year again
Good cheer and all that to men
How I long to light the tree
Most of all, share with family.

There are times I wish for more
For unbelievers to call at my door
When the Carols have a hollow ring
A man of science sometimes will sing.

Sometimes misplaced the reason why
But when remembered, I often cry
It's not about my pain or loss
Christ was born to bear the Cross.

Lord, let me unceasingly pray
Then celebrate with you this day
Not what I gave-what You gave!
Your birth, Your blood only, can save.

Now on this glorious Christmas morn
Praise! Praise! A King was born
For Your mercy and grace we sought
Sometimes? No! Surely not!

God, let me stand in the gap
As the Lord unfurls His map
Leading sinners to Your Kingdom come
Not sometimes, not some, but everyone!
