Your First Child

by Gertrude Jefferies

There will always be a special bond,
Between you and your first little one.
As you run your fingers through his fuzzy hair,
And count fingers and toes, to make sure they're all there.
When the doctor places him on your breast,
Your heart will swell with happiness.
As you cuddle and hold him close to your heart,
Don't be one bit ashamed if the teardrops start,
For this small little bundle of joy that you're holding,
Is a precious gift from God unfolding.
Yes, that special place no one else can fill,
He holds it now, and he always will.
For no matter how many others may come,
That bond will exist between first born and Mom.
