Deliverance

by Taylor Foxx © 2008

Oh Lord, what can I bring before you?
For man sees the outside,
you see past every action I do,
see all that I strive to hide.

...the bitter truth that I am not who I seem.
Men may judge what they hear,
but you know what my words really mean;
You see beyond the man in the mirror.

You know all the promises
I've purposely forgotten;
You know all my silent compromises,
and see the trap of sin I am caught in.

Oh Lord, I am but dust,
sinful and tainted since birth;
One often entrapped in snares of lust,
heavenly creation molded by the earth.

That which you formed
and gave your breath,
the earth has conformed
to be instruments of sin and death.

Amazingly, you came for me
and died in my place;
I am humbled when I see
the cross and your bloodied face.

For the love the cross displayed
is the greatest ever known;
The price of sin is paid
and deliverance shown.
