Words of Love

It was sent to us from ancient ages,
One generation to the next.
Written down on sacred pages
To be unveiled in holy text.

It whispers to my worried soul,
Words that give me precious peace.
When I am bound beyond control
It offers me a sweet release.

Yet there are times that I lose sight
Of the things revealed to me,
And I wander through the night
Encircled by the enemy;
Until I read the writings of
God's everlasting, endless love.
