Darkness to Light

by Raven

In a dreary and desolate place
Where I thought I would never see His face,
My soul in utter darkness did suffer
Midst fear and shame did cower.
They tore at my heart, saying I was nothing.
My woes, too pithy, to bring to the King.
My anguish, an illusion, no one would believe,
Leaving me alone and in despair, to grieve.

Inside, I'm wretched and without hope,
There is only One who can help me cope.
Lord, deliver me from the dark night of my soul.
Lift me up and make me whole.
Into that dark and desolate place,
Jesus reached out with His love and grace.
Like the Sun, His love shone strong and bright,
Dispelling at once the darkness of my night.
