In Secret Places

by Margaret Cagle

After Adam and Eve disobeyed God,
They hid themselves among the trees.
Shortly after, both of them learned,
"Our secret place, God really sees."

Jonah thought he ran from the Lord
As he sailed toward Tarshish that day,
But as he prayed inside that whale,
He knew, "From God I can't run away."

Moses fled from the face of Pharaoh
After the Egyptian man he did slay.
As he tended sheep in a back desert,
God called him from a burning bush one day.

Sometimes we hear about criminals
Who just vanish without a trace.
They travel far distances to hide
In some secluded secret place.

They may elude all the policemen
In the secret places where they abide,
But this fact remains for certain,
From God, they can never hide.

Some Christians try to run from God
Instead of submitting to His will,
But they know within their hearts
That the Lord can see them still.
