Pass Over Me Father

by Anita Anderson

God promised His chldren He would save their firstborn,
When the death angel passed overhead.
With blood on the doorpost from a lamb that was slain,
They were saved that night just as He said.

"Pass over us Father," they must have prayed.
"Keep us safe as Your word we obey."
Oh, Pass over me Father, I longingly pray.
Keep me safe as Your word I obey.

The Passover feast Jesus went to observe,
As a young boy with his family.
He then lingered behind when his parents left town,
For in His Father's house He must be.

"Pass over Him Father," they must have prayed.
Wond'ring why their word He'd disobeyed.
Oh, Pass over me Father, now humbly I pray.
Help me always Your word to obey.

Christ entered the city with a donkey beneath,
Once again for the Passover meal.
This He shared with His friends, knowing one would betray,
He submitted to His Father's will.

"Pass over me Father," He earnestly prayed.
"Yet not My will but Yours I'll obey."
Oh, Pass over me Father, I fervently pray.
Your will I now seek to obey.

They mocked Him and beat Him, then He died in my place,
On a cross as a part of God's plan.
As He hung there in shame, from His side freely flowed,
Precious blood of my Passover Lamb.

"Pass over them Father, forgive them," He prayed.
"They know not what they do or say."
Oh, Pass over me Father, I gratefully pray,
Your blood canceled my sins on that day.
