I am a Star!

by Sybil Shearin © 2009

The heavens are my home and endless delight
The splendor of me radiates during the night.
I am far away to many but not to all.
Angels pass me all the time Summer, Winter, Spring and Fall.

We come in all shapes and sizes but few people have seen
For we were scattered by blessed hands and on these hands do we lean.
We have watched men come and go for thousands of years.
We have seen them die, suffer, bleed, shedding oceans of tears.

One day we will no longer be here for mankind to see.
We think that day is coming sooner degree by degree.
Stories have been written about us and children stare at us with delight.
We are the reason many children sleep in the dark and lonely night.

There are millions of us scattered about the sky.
Sometimes you can actually see one of us as we go flying by.
We are the matchless stars that God's hands flung into space.
Brilliant are we in splendor, glorious light and matchless grace.

Listen, watch and remember your time is drawing to an end.
The sky will one day be darkened as King Jesus makes His descend.
Get ready people for you know not the day nor the hour
But Jesus Christ is returning in mighty splendor, majesty and power.
