CHRISTMAS DAY

by suziedowntown

Hello- Hey you over there
Yes, you; with the greying hair
Yes, you; who hasn't seen a good meal
Yes, you; with the eyes the color of teal

Who, me? Asks the man without a home
Who, me? Answers he, as he shivers to the bone
Yeah, Lady? says the old man full of wrinkles
Who, me? says the man whose teal eyes twinkle

Hello, why don't you come here to me?
Yes, you; I won't hurt you, can't you see?
Why, Thank you, do you want a cup of coffee?
Of course! I wouldn't ask, if it wasn't on me

Why, I haven't been so warm in days!
Regular, please;, hmm-kids working on Christmas Day
I would love a bowl of soup and bread
Did I tell you that my Brother is dead?

I am so sorry, Is there anything I can do?
Say What? He died so you could live?
Did he push from an oncoming car?
Is that how you've made it thus far?

My sweet Lady, he sent you to me to feed
Just like He fed the town with a few fish and bread
You are His Sister, that is why you're so sweet
The unloving ones pass by-rather letting me starve, than eat

Oh, ye man of much Faith. Your Father loves you, too
His name is God, He is here for you, too
As for me, a mere mortal, with Jesus in her soul
With The Holy Spirit working me, making me whole
Looking down quietly, she asks; Do you want another bowl?

When she looks up, he was gone, 'cept a scrap of card
On it she found his name, Angel # 489
"Just sent here to see if you are still on guard,
You are, and Jesus says He is doing just fine!"
