In His Dreams

by Kathleen Higham

In his dreams, he runs
His legs have grown him tall
He smiles, flies through the air
To leap over the wall.

In his dreams, he laughs
In absolute wonder of it all
Knowing God has lifted him up
To leap over the wall.

In his dreams, he sighs
Understanding that he will fall
Still, believing God will help him
To leap over the wall.

In his dreams, he prays
For God to hear his call
And courage comes to the child
To leap over the wall.

Lord, he has put his faith in You
Your Word can never be denied
This child will leap in victory
You catch him on the other side.

In his dreams, he rejoices
For no trial can befall
A boy who sings praise to You
As he stands before the wall.

This leap now a spiritual journey
The child may feel weary and small
But, by my God, by my God
He shall leap over the wall.

For there is no unanswered prayer
Even if pain conquers, it seems
The Father God will lift him up
Now and always, "In his dreams."

Psalm 18:29 "For by You I can run against a troop, by my God I can leap over a wall."
