Hold Me

by Kathleen Higham

Tonight I lay weary in my bed
A heavy sorrow fills my head
I do not want to feel this way
There are no words that I can say.

Still and rigid my eyes shut tight
No sleep will come on this night
The silence in a heart of dread
My body weighted down like lead.

I would cry, but I simply cannot
A losing battle if I had fought
Then I felt Him, could it be?
From my lips I say, "Hold me."

God hold me, hold me please
Unable to fall upon my knees
It hurts too much to even try
But the white light came to defy.

He held me with the softest sigh
And for just a moment I did cry
Understanding this to be a test
Now in His arms at last, I rest.

So ask Him in a that time of need
From every burden you are freed
If only you can say, "Hold me"
He would, just ask, ask and see.
