Still Alive

by Brett Barton

I never dreamed I'd still be here
Getting past that one frightful year
It seemed at that age it all went wrong
Truth be told the road has been very long

But for some unforeseen reason
God has saved me for another season
I hear he has great plans for each one of us
So I am not really sure why I made such a fuss

I hope that in seeing the things that I have seen
And being so unsure as I was caught in between
I can do something more to help others like me
The ones that are still lost adrift in the dark sea

There are so many people that are in need
Waiting for help as they want their souls freed
It's no longer about making through another day
It's about how many I can lead from the fray

My life has not yet become completely whole
But I can see the light as I head towards a goal
It is no longer just enough to simply survive
So watch out darkness, I am still alive
