-In Contrast- God and Man

by Bryan Miles

Endless in direction, duration, and time
I climb a few steps, yet there's more to climb
A bottomless sea without any shore
I swim in your wisdom, going back for more;
No depth to your presence, your majesty or power
You keep me in sight, every second, every hour
No end to your glory, your wisdom or grace;
What is mere man that you look on his face?
The expanse of the universe, seems to reach no end
All the stars and the planets, you've created in a blend
A blend of your power, with a touch of your hand
Tossing the waters, the sky, and the land;
Sprinkling it with fish, stars, and plants
Butterflies, bees, and tiny ants;
Then to top it all off, you created me,
Mountains, and a bountiful sea!

Your love knows no boundaries, no barriers to cross
Without your forgiveness and mercy, I'm lost
Your wisdom is unfathomable, yet when I approach your throne
You give me your Word, to make it my own;
You were in the beginning, and forever will be
As great as you are, you shine on me
In contrast to You, I am but a speck
In all you created, much like a blank check;
Much like a blank check, until you signed the back
Saved by your blood, and Satan's attack;
In contrast to You, who is mere man?
You lovingly seek me, though foolishly I ran!

No matter how long, or steadily I exlpore
I'll never understand, what you loved me for
I was selfish and stubborn, going my own way
Never giving you a fraction, of any given day;
Yet somehow you loved me, somehow you cared
You reached down and touched, a man running scared
You stopped me in my tracks, and caused me to think
You brought me to your waters, where my soul took a drink;
As vast as your kingdom, as mighty as you are
I wasn't too small, for you to bleed or scar
In contrast to You, a sinner saved by grace
The God of creation, taking my place;
In contrast to You, there's nothing I can say
That can contrast, what you've done for me;Selfless love on display...
