The Image

by Greg Doyle

In endless emanation's spread,
beyond all words, and worlds apart,
the image cast on dusty bed
exhaled one life through Spirit fed,
and filled with joy one beating heart.

In love, at long-last bona fide,
above the surface of the deep,
love drew an image from his side,
in partnership, a friend and bride
arose this morn from even sleep.

And when the garden gate was barred,
love surely found an open door.
Relentless retributions marred
the image, once impaled and scarred
to rise, in love, and love once more.
