At The Altar

by jeff oliver

At the altar is where Jesus is waiting
He is tugging at your heart so no more hesitating
He wants you to come, kneel at his feet
To forgive all your sins, make your life complete
It is the Holy Spirit that draws you to the altar
He will guide you by the hand so you do not falter
There is no one in this church who is here without a cause
The Lord's been whispering in your ear, I know you heard his calls
He calls you in the late night hour with the sweetest voice
All to give eternal life to you and make your heart rejoice
He knows you are a sinner, He's seen your wicked ways
He still loves and wants to spare you from the wrath of judgment day
He knows you want to change your life before you come to him
Jesus says you must enter the water before you learn to swim
Not even the greatest of the prophets changed their life alone
It's done by calling on Jesus name and mercy from the throne
Who but God can change the way the Jordan River flows
Or with a word can change the direction that the north wind blows
The Holy Trinity says that trying to save your soul without us three
Is like trying to take a butter knife to chop down the great oak tree
Jesus is telling me to tell the lost you're running out of time
The harvest, I'm making ready, cause I'll return at the drop of a dime
After I take my children who kept the path with all eyes on me
There will be trials and tribulation, Oh the horrors this world will see
Jesus is still at the altar, his eyes are filled with tears
Hoping that you will make that walk, for you is why he's here
