-The Bakery-

by Bryan Miles

A cinnamon aroma encircles the street
Where everyone is rushing and scurrying feet
It lures the whole crowd, the smell is enticing
Freshly baked cakes, smothered in icing
Danish and donuts, in every shape and size
Flow straight through the nostrils, and everyone's eyes
Baked, seeded rolls, biscuits and tarts
Captivating the senses and everyone's hearts
White bread, wheat bread, rye bread and buns
A foolish man tarries, a wise man runs
Come swift to the bakery, we very seldom close
Simply open the door and follow your nose

A scent of God's spirit encircles the soul
In a church down the street where life's taken a toll
A toll on the countenance of everyone's heart
Bruised, torn and broken, and falling apart
It lures the whole crowd, the smell is enticing
Freshly, baked bread, the pastor is slicing
Flowing straight through the nostrils
It satisfies and feeds
Captivating the senses, fulfilling the needs
Black man, white man, green man and blue
The bread of life, for me and for you!
A foolish man tarries, the wise man runs
There is plenty of bread for all of God's sons
Come swift to the altar, the door is never closed
Simply open your hearts, and follow your nose....
