-British Petroleum- Better Pray

by Bryan Miles

British Petroleum
Better pray
It's not just your oil
Coming our way
Unrighteousness and judgment
Are riding the waves
The sins of mankind
Are digging our graves
We fill up our nets
Suck everything dry
Then it all disappears
In the blink of an eye
How about a tuna sandwich or a fish fillet?
It's not just your oil coming our way

The home of the dolphin
The shark and the whale
More than your oil slick
Rides on their tail
They're gasping for air
How long will they breathe?
Corporations say, "Stay!"
THEY ask you to leave
Are you picking up shells?
Just walking the beach?
The oil clump spoils
Are threatening your reach
Fishing boats at a standstill
Can't lay down their nets
No longer filled with fish
Just plenty of regrets

How long do you think God will simply sit still?
There's a pit that's been dug
By much more than your drill
There's a pit that's been dug
By the unrighteous hand
That will one day destroy
And pillage the land
Have pity on the starfish
And the pelican's plight
The sins of the city
Are now taking flight
Hovering over the oceans
The rivers and lakes
Slippery, slimy oil
That slithers with snakes
A vial of blood
Released in the sea
Trying to wake up the offspring
Of you and of me
Take heed ocean surfer
Better sand down your board
Here comes the oil!
Time to come to the Lord...
