My Very Last Remembrance

by Kathleen Higham

My very last remembrance
As I drifted off to sleep
If I should not awaken
Never again shall I weep.

But darkness acquiesces
Unto the light again
And one more day I live
Thank you Lord, Amen.

My very last remembrance
Oh let it be of Him
When I finally slip away
My thoughts growing dim.

I see the Tree of Life
Branches out to me a limb
Accepting the gift, eternal
My last remembrance was of Him.
