The Gift

by Roseline Edwards

I've been a lot of places, I've done a lot with me.
I've been in situations where I didn't want to be.

I've lied I've cheated, I've stole I've killed,
I've gone against his precious will.

I've shun the sick neglected the poor,
I've turned my back and closed the door.

I've acted in anger always ready to fight,
I've resisted love with all my might.

I screamed and cursed didn't care what I'd say,
I've walked through this life wondering why should I pray.

I've been to jail where I sat in a cell,
and my only thoughts at the time were oh well.

I've smoked crack cocaine, some might say I'm insane,
but it was my way of numbing my pain.

BUT GOD RESCUED ME

I've come to my senses, put it all on the table.
My Faith is in God, cause I know he is able.

He opened my eyes and gave me a sign.
Of his wonderful gift, that is rightfully mine.

Now I have no more sorrow, grief or strife.
I've been blessed with the gift...of ETERNAL LIFE!
