Conflict

by Kathleen Higham

Faith comes with conflict
It the is quiet I desire
Weariness befalls me
When instead burns the fire.

Then unexpected passion
With searing hot rage
Nothing could survive it
Words scorch the page.

There once was love
Now conflict rules the day
Our God understood it
When destruction paved the way.

There once was love
Then hate despicably spoke
Love fell in a heap
Till every heart broke.

Cold dark ice surrounded
An empty void was there
So cold and passionless
Till every heart laid bare.

But hate could not consume
For love at last returned
Hate hot and furious lost
When the fire burned.

There may be a fine line
If love and hate conspire, but
His love will always conquer
Ice will never survive the fireā€¦
