Pause

by Kathleen Higham

Time it seems is passing by
So my life is now on hold
Fear creeps in heavy with dread
These words to God are bold.

Have You forgotten me, Lord?
I have prayed all these years
But quiet holds me captive
And silent are my tears.

"Write, write the story," God says
As He whispered His request
"I am a poet, Lord," I cried
Surely not a novelist!

But quiet held me captive
For God had stilled my mind
"You can do all things with Me"
Just search and you will find.

Now God put my life on pause
Then shared my cozy nook
He penned the words so sweetly
Then guided me through the book.

More than once I wept with Him
When He took me to that place
Pausing here and pausing there
Until at last I wore His face.

In our trials He will use us
If only we stop and reconcile
There is nothing God won't do
When we pause with Him awhile.
