The Church

by Bradley Driskill © 2018

Roman government shows no pity,
Human torches light up the city.
The streets soldiers heavily guard,
Any Christians caught they instantly discard.
Holy manuscripts Luke must carefully hide,
With only Holy Spirit as his rightful guide.
Letters written by Paul in this dreadful prison,
Proclaiming the Gospel of the Savior risen.

Risking all to share Christ with every nation,
To save lost souls from eternal damnation.
Despite being martyred and persecuted,
Their voices were never muted.
Their lives were not a total loss,
For all debts were paid at the cross.
This was worth everything they sacrificed,
For the church of our Lord Jesus Christ.
