Peace Comes From Him

by Kathleen Higham

Oh, how I longed for peace
But not to ponder why
Or wonder if and when
As I brush a tear from my eye.

In this world of many wrongs
The answer seemed to flee
Prayer became quite meaningless
And there was no peace to see.

But who could really see peace?
When looking deep within
So completely full of oneself
Not realizing where I have been.

Then, God gives one lone flower
Now a beautiful day begins in awe
Surely not because of a vision
Nor what my eyes saw.

Peace came, it was an epiphany
The Rose of Sharon, from He
Surrendered and emptied my soul
Then allowed God to fill me.

"I brought you to myself," He said
But only when I reached my end
The Rose of Sharon rests in peace
For among the thorns we mend.

When at last we lay it all down
Even if life looks scary and grim
Peace comes, pulls you to Himself
Peace comes, peace comes from Him.
