Book

I flip through the pages with sorrow and grace,
A mix of emotions now plays on my face,
For times in the past when the wounds cut so deep,
Scars now remind me of promises to keep.

Each leaf holds the secrets of which I denied,
Stained with the tears of the times I have cried,
Dripping with blood which should now be congealed,
Revealing the places which have never healed.

A story is told here that most will ignore,
Choosing to walk in the ways of before,
While tormenting the heart, soul, and the mind,
In search of some secret that one could not find.

The phases of life that one lets slip away,
Lays buried in guilt left to rot and decay,
Ignored in the corners, surrounded by dust,
Will one ever take hold of the gold that won’t rust?

Will the thirsty now drink? Will the hunger subside?
Is anyone ready to drop all the pride?
Is anyone willing to reveal the soul?
To hand over dominion, relinquish control?

The very last page makes me tremble in fear,
I keep looking for words, but there are none here,
Neither one single phrase nor a secular verse,
Alone in the darkness, it's bound to get worse.

What will you write on that page for your life?
Will you complain of the sorrow and strife?
Will you reflect of the love you have lost?
Tally the numbers? Count up the cost?

What will you say and what will you write?
Will you speak of the visions that came from the light?
Will you finish this chapter with faith, grace and love?
Taking hold of the promise that comes from above?

The stories unfinished, the pen's in your hand,
Each one has the power to will and command,
The course of eternity as it will be for you,
So what will you write and what will you do?
