Preeminent. (Colossians 1 v 13-18)

We have been rescued from the power of darkness
And placed within the kingdom of His Son
The One He loves, in whom we have redemption
And through His blood, our sins' forgiveness won
This glorious Christ, formation of God's image
And firstborn of creation over all
By Him all things in heaven and earth created
The seen and unseen, nations large and small
And reign of principalities and powers
All things created by Him, for His might
He is before all the forming of creation
It is in Him, all breadth and depth and height
And head of the ecclesia, His body
The beginning, the firstborn from the dead
Preeminence in all; in Him entirely
On whom we feed, Who is our Living Bread.

And we, who see through eyes of faith, His glory
Will plunge into His reservoir of Grace
Where we can bid farewell to our performance
And wallow in the blessing of His face.

To know that we are loved without condition
The greatest power the universe has known
Which covers His preeminence with glory
And holds our hearts, secure in Grace alone.
