Daddy,s Gone

by robert stewart

There was a time when I was just a boy my daddy said to me,
Son,in this old world you will need a friend and I won't always be.
But never fear nor fret my son you will never be alone,
For even though your daddy's gone your father's on the throne.

I have brought you up to be a man the best that I knew how,
I've tried to teach you right from wrong, you're no longer a boy now.
Just remember what I have said when times are dark and cold,
Your daddy may not be here now,but your father's hand you hold.

Son,your daddy's gone now there's no need to cry,
For your daddy went to meet his father who lives beyond the sky.
One day son, we all will meet and oh how we'll rejoice,
But until that time remember son it's still your given choice.

Try to remember son when you were just a lad,
All the lessons daddy taught, the good ones from the bad.
Never fear nor fret my son for you will never be alone,
Even though your daddy's gone your father's on the throne.
