Fallible Follower

by Michelle Myers © 2022

The world around you feels as if it's shrinking.
A small box that speaks tells you what you're thinking.
Your body is broken from years of neglect,
The world has no grace, as it throws out statistics.

You fall, you crawl, you stand you thrive.
Everyone around you is still shocked how you survived.
The darkened eyes of sadness that gaze,
you humbly lift your hands in praise...
Even when you mess up and feel altered
When the resolves you had failed, and you have faltered...
You get back up, more than flesh and bones.
You get back up because your soul cannot be owned.

Its color cannot dim, nor its brilliance fade
For you were divinely crafted, your purpose is displayed.
People didn't make you, and most can't see your soul
But its colors are illuminating, it's being refined like gold.
And though the fire of trials makes you weep and hold on,
Never forget that in your weakness...
LOVE is made strong.

Who is this LOVE and how can it be?
God is LOVE and he offers it free.
A mess, a marvel, often there's no difference at all.
We all have lives that get messy,
But we remain amazing, because our hearts headed the call.

No, you're not perfect,
A fact that often makes one sad.
But remember who the Creator says you are,
You're allowed to call him, "Dad."
