Her Prayer

by Connie Vigil

Alone she sits
it's been a long wait
she says her prayers
dreams of heaven's gates

Her heart is worn
it's been broken too
If it wasn't for God
don't know what she'd do

She whimpers in silence
as she's on her knees
her soul is too burdened
with her heavy pleas

She wraps it all up
as a nice little gift
then lies it down
for Jesus to lift

Without a word
Jesus tugs on the bow
in her gaze of amazement
she suddenly lets go

She's able to stand
even project a smile
Jesus holds out his hand
"Oh come stay awhile"

She leaves all behind
that burdened her heart
she's been given a chance
to make a new start
