In Vain

by T Rock © 2024

Wicked doers and speakers alike delight in slander
and avoid spiritual belief
Ignoring the light, the Spirit, the Word,
and the promise of receiving blessed relief

Discounting all of God's commandments
and blaspheming His name as if it had no effect
It sadly reflects the character of the countless in this world
who don't understand their soul and its neglect

The multitudes appear almost seditious,
So, what exactly are they damning and taking in vain
Rebelling and cursing against something you disbelieve
gives the impression of being, well, insane

They see it not as truth, but do they know
it is breaking His third commandment as written in stone
Echoed everywhere today, it is by far the most abused,
but assuredly not alone

Accepted as common speech in a large number
of movies, books, songs, and shows
It makes one wonder who's the influencer
of the patrons and participants in the Hollywood glow

Unfortunately, so many youths are yielding
to worldly false idols, fads, and trends
It is hard to comprehend the gospel means nothing
for so many and for so many different sins

God's love is the greatest healer of men,
so why so difficult to accept, and instead, its Creator disdain
By spiting His greatest gift with hate for one another,
and by taking the name of the Lord in vain

"You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain, for the LORD will not hold him guiltless who takes His name in vain. Exodus 20:7
