Revelation Not Information (Matthew 16 v 13-17)

'Who do you say I am?' was what He asked
A question that his very heart unmasked
And all who listened to His words of life
He searched their hearts with an unerring knife.

Then Peter sought His eyes and quickly found
A willing answer with a certain sound
'YOU ARE THE CHRIST!!!' came forth with
clarity
A flash of light, and a reality.

No common flesh and blood provoked his cry
And wisdom, books or learning would deny
This burning speech. For revelation now
Poured light within and caused his knee to bow.

We see Jesus, a little lower than
The angels once, but the exalted Man
Now crowned with glory, for His rightful place
We now can know as soaking in His grace.

Our life in Him does not only rely
On information, but a heart supply
Of Him, the Christ, revealed by grace alone
Blessed and secure in Him the Cornerstone.

Like Peter now, we cannot stray from Him
Though we like Peter too know failure grim
The revelation of His heart the way
Where we with Him are joined to love's display.
