Bible in Rhyme

Job 36 • Like Cattle Announcing a Squall finalist in poetry contest
I didn't have a title for this poem until I finally came across the very last verse. "He fills his hands with lightning and commands it to strike its mark. His thunder announces the coming storm; even the cattle make known its approach." Job 36:32-33

Psalm 29 finalist in poetry contest
Ascribe to the Lord, you heavenly beings, ascribe to the Lord glory and strength. Ascribe to the Lord the glory due his name; worship the Lord in the splendor of his a holiness. The voice of the Lord is over the waters; the God of glory . . . Ps 29:1-3a

Job 28 • Got Wisdom? first in poetry contest
Surely there is a mine for silver, and a place for gold that they refine. Iron is taken out of the earth, and copper is smelted from the ore. Man puts an end to darkness and searches out to the farthest limit the ore in gloom and deep darkness Job 28:1-3

The Orphaned Queen
Taken from the Book of Esther describing how an orphan in a exile became Queen of a great empire, and how God directed all along the way!

Psalm 27 second in poetry contest
I love what it says in Psalm 27:8: My heart has heard you say, “Come and talk with me.” And my heart responds, “LORD, I am coming.”

1 Samuel 17:31-40
We can't do what God has given us to do by trying to be someone we're not. God will prepare us for what He wants us to do. He will train and guide us and give us the power to carry out His will.

A Different Spirit
Numbers 14:24 - "But because My servant Caleb has a different spirit and has followed Me wholeheartedly, I will bring him into the land he has entered, and his descendants will inherit it."God desires us to have such a spirit.

Adoration From An Adulteress
I'm going to suggest a connection between several stories in the gospels. They are the story of Mary Magdalene who had 7 demons cast out of her (Luke 8:2), the woman caught in adultery (John 8:1-11), the promiscuous woman/Mary anointing Jesus feet.

In Identifying With Ruth
Reading the book of Ruth on Saturday morning, I started thinking how many ways I felt like Ruth. I'm glad she's in the Bible as it gives me hope.
