Screams of silence

by rhymarhyma

Lost in time, lost in rhyme
has tomorrow come and gone
A weeping mime commits no crime
yet his sorrow marches on

Left behind, color blind
orange sunsets make him blue
He tries to find his missing mind
in a box he can't break through

Every side, trapped inside
viewed by everyone around
Can't run and hide, though he tried
can't scream...he makes no sound

Painted joy, fake decoy
lonely tears roll down his cheeks
Will love destroy this long-lost boy
and the freedom that he seeks

For 'twas love, toward his dove
that finally drove him mad
Just thinking of her high above
and the passion that they had

In his head she's not dead
They're together somehow, some way
She always said to look ahead
not dwell on yesterday

It was she who could see
his problem growing bigger
It was he who then would flee
after she squeezed the trigger

Alcohol made him fall
to the very depths of hell
He lost it all behind that wall
Screams of silence in his cell

Crying slurred, teardrops blurred
the mime drops to one knee
He clenched God's Word, his prayer heard
though shackled, he's finally free
