Looking Ahead

by Robert Hedrick

As the day winds down some of it's
memories are clouding the mind,
With a few golden opportunities that
were so carelessly left behind.
Though they had been noticed, time
seemed of most importance then,
Thinking back now, considering just
what the outcome could have been.

There was one that might have been
a money maker, given some thought,
At a reasonable sum, the merchandise
likely could have been bought.
In time, there is no doubt,
that a handsome profit would be made,
However, being in such a big hurry,
left a costly price to be paid.

There was an opportunity to help a
friend who needed a helping hand,
But time was running a little close
with so much having been planned.
It wasn't a problem to turn and look
the other way and pass on by,
However now in thinking back on it,
there is a big question of why.

While these are remembered, there's
one more that troubles the heart,
An opportunity that might have led a
a lost soul to a brand new start.
Although this opportunity was lost,
a valuable lesson was taught,
That God's trying to use us to win
souls His Son's blood bought.
