What You Are

by John Janzen © 2017

You are the scratching of the itch
You are the cracking of the whip
You are the tangle in the hair
The brush that gets it out of there

You are the peanut to the butter
You're the milk squeezed from the udder
You are the flutter of the heart
You're simply every better part

You are the twinkle in each star
That's simply just the way you are
You are the sweetest part of me
The part that I could never be

You are the hand warmed in the glove
You are the heart warmed by my love
You are God's love expressed to me
a better fit ther'll never be

You're the commotion in the ocean
Turbulence in my emotion
You are the sweet'ner in my tea
The open cage that sets me free

You are the kneading to the bread
So much the brain inside my head
You are the gift that likes to give
You are the life I love to live

You are the tingle to the nerves
On each road trip you are the curves
You are God’s answer to my prayers
You're one who bears with me my cares

You are the windshield to the wipers
Changer of my babies' diapers
Not that I don't change them too
I guess this rhyme was not thought through!

You are the blessing worth receiving
You're the message worth believing
God's greatest gift to me by far
Is quite exactly what you are
