Angel

by Joy Wieters

Angel, are you up there now,
Looking down at me?
I know that if you could somehow,
So much pain you would see.
Your death, Angel, has caused much pain,
And grievances to bear.
Please know we want you back with us.
Of this please be aware.
But also we rejoice with you,
Now in your Father's arms.
Your beauty is made perfect now,
No jewelry or charms.
You, Angel, are in our hearts,
Your parents feel a hole,
But someday we will be with you
And love again be whole.
Angel, we do grieve for you,
But also we rejoice!
God will come back and save us all,
We'll rise up with one voice:
"Praise the Lord who conquers death,
And gains all victory!
No sorrow nor grief in heaven's love,
United we shall be!"
Though we cry, and wish, for you,
Our tears will turn to joy,
When God shall come with vengeance true
And enemies destroy.
I call you Angel, my dear one,
Because you were to us.
With long blonde hair and smiling eyes,
In life, you were thus.
Your heart for others and for the Lord
Has indeed inspired,
All of us to give our all
To God, though we are tired.
We long to wrap you in our arms,
But now we are apart.
So instead we trust our God
And wrap you in our heart.
We love you, Angel.
