Freedom Fighters

by Joy Wieters

When wars and peril crawl upon
These shores or any other,
America is here to say,
We'll each defend our brother.

Across the sea to fight for good,
The soldiers ready be,
To fight for good and stand for right
Though no one may see.

We all have duty, each our own,
To stand for freedom now.
We all have duty to our God
To do what He shows how.

To fight for freedom, easy not,
But difficult it be.
But stand we do with armor on
For all the world must see.

The courage of the soldiers,
The courage of the saints,
With combat near, the crying hear,
"The end will not be Fate's."

Lord Jesus, we must pray for them,
We know it and we will:
Bless them, keep them, hold their hand.
Returning, hold them still.

We keep their families in our prayers,
In love they must be bathed.
We pray that sons and daughters, more,
Will all return unscathed.

My prayer is this, my friends, that we,
Become more like our Lord.
When Injustice comes to call
We'll all hold high our sword.

For all of us, every one,
Must be a world-lighter.
All those who fight, all those who win,
They are Freedom Fighters.
