Ouiet Desparation

by Joy Wieters

Quiet Desperation,
A word for the sanctioned.
Those set apart
By their heart
From the start.
A word for the needy,
The lost, and the found.
Whose hearts are still sinking,
Gone with no sound.
We look for them,
To make them here again,
But they've gone away
In quiet desperation.
No one ever knew,
And when they thought they did,
They hid,
Behind everything that seemed to matter.
But it didn't.
The silent hurt,
The unsaid loved.
Why didn't we tell them,
"There's love from above.
No matter what they think of you,
You can find acceptance true.
There's a love that's bigger than mistakes,
I don't want you to miss it by drowning
In life's lakes."
It's perfect,
It's falling
It's unmarked love.
No matter who hates you,
No matter where you're hurt,
A Friend for you when you're
Down in the dirt:
The silent Lamb;
The spotless Lover.
He took you in His own hands,
Every one of you,
Because He just loved you that much.
We need to tell these 'desperados',
Or they will sink,
Into darkest despair.
Their graves unmarked -
On our hearts -
Or so they think.
Loved.
Beyond a shadow of a doubt.
Don't pout.
We have to tell them.
