Opportunity

by Donna Hendrix

Opportunities come and they go
Pray those from God you will know
He places them on the paths we trod
So many opportunities missed from God

Many excuses of a busy life
Covered up with hurriedness and strife
You think, oh there will be another chance
Maybe not; you may have missed the dance

The Samaritan saw a chance to help his fellow man
Didn't hesistate to veer from his own plan
Threw all caution to the wind
Helped his neighbor get on his feet again

He could have walked by as did the priest and levite
Could have looked at the man and said this isn't my fight
Kept moving ahead on his journey through town
With nothing more than a cast look and a frown

But he understood an opportunity from the Lord above
A chance to show God's compassionate love
We should seek God's guidance to His opportunities
And to grow a servant's heart for our Lord to please
