Differences in Culture

by Joy Wieters

We see the same thing,
But we don't understand
The same way.

We hear the same songs,
But we don't know the meaning,
Of the words we sang today.

We build the same room,
But to one it's a small house,
To another it's a home.

We both see the same week,
But to one it is short,
And to the other it's long.

We both drink the same water,
But to one it's a lifeline,
To the other, just water.

We all are one people,
And only the Love of God,
Binds differences in culture.
